1886

On October 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated in New York Harbor as a sign of peace and friendship between France and the United States. It has been important to American history and stands for freedom and democracy. It was temporarily closed for security reasons following the September 11, 2001 attacks, but was reopened in 2004 as a representation of the enduring principles of freedom and democracy.

1901

During this time period, William McKinley served as the 25th President of the United States from 1897 until his assassination in 1901. This section will introduce McKinley and cover the events that led to his assassination, as well as the aftermath of this tragic event.

1993

The 1993 World Trade Center bombing was a terrorist attack that took place on February 26, 1993, against the World Trade Center's North Tower in New York City. Six individuals were killed and over a thousand others were injured in the incident. A group of terrorists orchestrated and carried out the attack in an effort to seriously harm and destroy the structure, but they were unable to bring the tower down. Concerns about the safety of the United States were heightened after this, one of the first major acts of terrorism on US soil.

2001

The September 11 attacks, which took place on September 11, 2001, were a sequence of planned terrorist attacks against the United States. The attacks featured the hijacking of four commercial aircraft by 19 terrorists connected to the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda.
